Freedom of Religion vs. Woke Love to Hate “Hate”
(I originally posted this to micro.blog on my trial account, hoping to promote dialogue. We need platforms that promote dialogue).
Freedom of religion is one of the founding bedrock principles of these United States of America. It, and thus our nation, is under grave threat from the Woke religion who love to hate “hate.” This is true of the (anti)Equality Act, and it is true of micro.blog's “Community Guidelines,” which I am intentionally testing with my initial posts. Why?
I write Catholic fiction, specifically modern parables. I uphold and teach Catholic teaching through story with the prayer that it aids people who hunger for truth and yearn to discover who God is and how to run toward Him with wild abandon. Among what I write about is choosing life over death, be it abortion or euthanasia; why we are called to choose gender obedience rather than gender identity; why marriage is between one man and one woman for life; why sex outside marriage is always selfish and thus always sinful; among other topics.
Micro.blog's Community Guidelines state:
Hate speech: Content that attacks other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or disease. We will not host microblogs whose primary purpose is inciting harm towards others on the basis of these categories.
My primary purpose is not in any way to “incite harm towards others on the basis of these categories;” however, my Catholic Faith teaches that some of these actions of “self-love” are actually sinful and cause harm to our eternal soul. As Saint Augustine explains:
“Whoever loves himself, not God, loves not himself ... he cannot love himself who loves himself to his own destruction” (Saint Augustine, Catena Aurea on John 21:18-19).
So, micro.blog ... how to you choose to address this inherent conflict between two religions: Catholicism and Woke-ism? And is pointing out this conflict an act of “hate” or simply contributing to the conversation which is what motivated you to create micro.blog?
Catholic are among those who are being “deplatformed” because of their beliefs and are looking for solutions.
May Christ startle you with joy!
